Artist brings unique collection to Georgia Southern Statesboro Campus

Multimedia artist Lily Kuonen鈥檚 work has never been described as conventional. Her playntings, a combination of a play and a painting, are an end-result of her varied and playful approaches to contradiction, opposition, integration and connection. Some of Kuonen鈥檚 playntings will be on view at the Center for Art and Theatre鈥檚 Contemporary Gallery on the 精东影业 Statesboro Campus starting Jan. 14.

The Georgia Southern Armstrong Campus University Chorale and Vocal Chamber will perform in honor of J. Harry Persse, Ph.D., at the J. Harry Persse Memorial Concert on Nov. 11 at 3 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The concert is held annually to celebrate the legacy of J. Harry Persse, Ph.D., who was a musician, composer and educator at Armstrong State College in Savannah from 1965 to 1988.

Georgia Southern鈥檚 upcoming production of 鈥楾he Amen Corner鈥 to celebrate 35th anniversary of original performance on campus

Thirty-five years ago, Mical Whitaker made history on the 精东影业 Statesboro Campus when he directed 鈥淭he Amen Corner鈥 by James Baldwin, the first play directed by an African- American playwright to be included in a Georgia Southern Theatre season. Georgia Southern Theatre鈥檚 upcoming performance of the play will celebrate Whitaker鈥檚 achievement.

Master of Fine Arts candidate has steel sculpture exhibition on Statesboro Campus

Master of Fine Arts candidate Kench Lott challenges depth and understanding with steel sculptures in his upcoming exhibition 鈥淢indful Escapism.鈥 The exhibition will be on view from Nov. 5 through 30 at the Center for Art and Theatre鈥檚 University Gallery on the 精东影业 Statesboro Campus. A public reception will be Friday, Nov. 30 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the gallery.

精东影业 celebrates 20th annual National French Week

精东影业 will celebrate the history, culture and contributions of the French community during its 20th annual French Week, featuring a series of lectures, performances, meals and more. The celebration will run from Nov. 2 through Nov. 8.

Tim Kintzinger, D.M.A., a music professor on the 精东影业 Armstrong Campus, will go back to his roots when he performs 鈥淪tandards鈥 on the trumpet on Tuesday, Oct. 16 at 7:30 in the Carol A. Carter Recital Hall on the Statesboro Campus and on Tuesday, Oct. 23, at 7:30 p.m. at the Fine Arts Auditorium on the Armstrong Campus.
